Purpose

To purchase dialysis medical equipment such as Hemodialysis Machine, Automated Reprocessing Dialyzer Machine and to renovate and convert a 2-storey bungalow on waqf land into MAIDAM Hemodialysis Centre (Centre). It will be located in Taman Alamanda, Jalan Sultan Omar, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.

With the growing numbers of dialysis patients, twenty-five (25) hemodialysis centers throughout Terengganu are still unable to meet the demand. At present, there are 2,006 kidney patients in Terengganu. 1,367 are undergoing treatment, 348 are treated for ‘Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis’ (CAPD), while another 291 patients are on the waiting list.

Impact

Once the renovation is completed, the Centre is expected to serve patients in Kuala Terengganu. Details of the progress work are as follows:

For information, the management costs of the Centre (hiring of staff, disposable medical items etc.) will be founded through zakat allocation. The Centre will be managed by Persatuan Pesakit Buah Pinggang Terengganu and administrated by Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.
